Senior / Principal Engineer - Product Testing and Failure Investigation (m / f / d) - Qualitäts[...]

Responsibilities

1. Independently drive and perform technical failure investigations on software-driven electro-mechanical systems/products to identify root causes of potential defects (NCRs). Support quality and reliability improvements across innovation, engineering, R&D, manufacturing, and post-launch cycles.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop test concepts, build test setups, execute tests, and document findings to understand failure mechanisms and characterize potential product defects originating from manufacturing NCRs, field complaints, development failures, or OOS.
3. Support the QE team by providing technical expertise in designing tests, failure investigations, risk analysis, and proposing corrective actions.
4. Own the development and maintenance of the quality investigation laboratory.
5. Prepare technical investigation reports and risk assessments related to customer complaints and non-conformities.
6. Serve as a quality SME for technical and functional assessments of broker goods.
7. Establish and improve processes related to the role.

Skills and Experience

1. Engineering degree (Bachelor\’s or Master\’s) with knowledge of analog and digital techniques.
2. Beneficial: Education in technical crafts such as electronics technician, Informationselektroniker, or Communication technician telecom.
3. Extensive experience in electro-mechanical product testing and failure analysis.
4. Knowledge of analyzing, designing, and testing microprocessor circuits (embedded), HW/SW integrated modules.
5. Experience in systematic error and cause analysis, problem-solving, and technical testing.
6. Proficiency with measurement and test devices.
7. Ability to develop technical strategies for quality investigations and problem resolution.
8. Knowledge of reliability tools such as FTAs, FMEAs, simulation, modeling, and AI-based failure/system behavior analysis is advantageous.
9. Understanding of systems engineering principles is a plus.
10. Strong grasp of physics and engineering principles, including failure and root cause analysis.
11. Proficiency in English; German language skills are preferred.
12. Effective communication skills, collaborative mindset, and ability to build networks.
13. Assertiveness and openness to feedback for continuous improvement.
14. Ability to independently drive topics and initiatives.
