Company: LJB & Co Commercial Manager Our client is a multi-disciplined main contractor operating across the UK and Europe with a turnover of 750m and sustained annual growth of 5%–7.5%.
They deliver large-scale, turnkey projects for blue-chip clients, with a strong focus on data centres and other technology-heavy developments.
Due to continued growth and a recent major project win, our client is now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a flagship data centre project in Frankfurt, Germany.
This is a senior, site-based role with full commercial responsibility for a complex, high-value project.
The Role Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager will have overall responsibility for the commercial performance of the project from pre-construction through to final account.
Key responsibilities include
- Full commercial leadership and governance of the project
- Developing and implementing commercial strategy to maximise project profitability
- Overall responsibility for cost control, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Managing subcontract procurement strategy and commercial negotiations
- Oversight and approval of valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Managing change control, risk, and contractual compliance
- Leading, mentoring, and developing the site commercial team
- Producing accurate monthly commercial reports for senior management and stakeholders
- Acting as the key commercial interface with the client and external consultants Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (MRICS or equivalent desirable)
- Extensive experience in a senior commercial role with a main contractor
- Proven track record delivering large-scale, technically complex projects (data centres, pharma, or major M&E-led projects highly advantageous)
- Strong contractual knowledge (NEC, FIDIC, or similar forms of contract)
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage risk and opportunity
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international project environment
