Overview
As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will steer the mechanical design for a hyperscale data centre in Frankfurt, ensuring high reliability and compliance across interfaces with electrical and architectural disciplines. You will shape design intent, lead technical reviews, and mentor junior engineers within a collaborative, innovation-driven environment. This role offers hands-on leadership on a mission-critical project for a top global tech client, with opportunities to influence reliability, buildability, and sustainable outcomes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated, clash-free designs that meet client standards and international norms.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead mechanical design packages for hyperscale mission-critical systems (HVAC, chilled water, cooling, redundancy)
- Coordinate with electrical, CSA, and architectural teams to ensure integrated designs
- Review and approve calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Lead value engineering, design optimisation, and buildability reviews
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure design intent, reliability, and quality
- Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers on the project
- Ensure designs comply with health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements
- Support construction-stage queries, site coordination, and commissioning activities
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Extensive experience designing mechanical systems for hyperscale or mission-critical data centres
- Strong understanding of cooling, HVAC, chilled water, and high-reliability systems
- Proven experience leading mechanical design teams on large-scale, technically complex projects
- Familiarity with BIM and other digital design coordination tools
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
- Fluency in English; German advantageous
- Willingness to be based in Frankfurt for the project duration
