Business Development Manager – Air Freight

The Opportunity

A medium-sized global freight forwarder is looking for a Business Development Manager to grow its air freight business in Frankfurt and across Germany.

This role is open to either an established freight forwarding salesperson or an experienced air freight operator ready to move into sales for the first time. The company offers the global reach of an international forwarder with the close‑nest culture and flexibility of a smaller business.

Its flat hierarchy gives employees direct access to senior management, while its strong record of internal promotion offers genuine long‑term career progression.

Responsibilities

• Identify and approach prospective air freight customers.
• Build and manage a strong new‑business pipeline.
• Understand customer requirements and develop tailored solutions.
• Prepare quotations and support commercial tenders.
• Work closely with operations to onboard and develop customers.
• Build long‑term relationships across the German market.

The Profile

• At least three years of air freight experience.
• A background in freight forwarding sales or air freight operations.
• Strong knowledge of air freight processes and customer requirements.
• Commercial, proactive and confident in building relationships.
• Motivated to develop new business and progress professionally.

Previous sales experience is beneficial but not essential. Air freight operators with commercial potential and a genuine ambition to move into sales will receive the training and support needed to succeed.
