In order to support our continued growth, Lonza is seeking Bioprocess Engineers with a relevant background in Life Sciences and a passion for Biotechnology to join our talent community in Visp, Switzerland. Become part of this exciting opportunity and join our team by applying for the position as Bioprocess Engineer within our Mammalian Business Division either in Upstream Processing or Downstream Processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that operational activities for clinical and/or commercial manufacturing are performed on-time and within given safety and quality standards.
  2. Act as the functional lead for preparation, manufacturing execution, cleaning and changeover in the assigned area.
  3. Lead one or more defined USP areas (e.g. seed train, main cultivation or harvest) for the production of therapeutic proteins with either mammalian or microbial expression systems (Bioprocess Engineer USP).
  4. In charge of one or more defined DSP areas (e.g. capture, polishing or filling) for the purification of therapeutic proteins from either mammalian (Bioprocess Engineer DSP).

Key Requirements:

  1. Master’s Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related Life Science subject, or Bachelor’s holder with experience in pharma production.
  2. Knowledge in either USP (such as bioreactors) or DSP units (such as chromatography).
  3. A couple of years working experience in biomanufacturing required.
  4. GMP experience and understanding of bioprocess technology.
  5. Excellent communication skills in English, good German skills of advantage.
