As a Senior Sales Trader for the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) you will:
Lead sales efforts in North Africa, the Middle East, and Gulf countries.
Coordinate and participate in initiatives to expand the market reach of the LDC Coffee team in the region.
Contribute to global trading strategies through insights developed on managed products and regions.
Oversee reporting, accounts receivable, risk management, and supervision aspects.
The selected candidate will be based in Geneva and will report into the Coffee Head of Marketing for EMEA. We also consider successful candidates based in Hamburg and Istanbul.
Sales Strategy:
Execute the global coffee sales strategy in the specified region.
Drive business development by proposing, planning, and potentially implementing new trade flows. This may involve creative logistics, tax structures, strategic positioning, or developing agency structures/teams to expand commercial reach and boost sales growth.
Commercial:
Understand and address the region\’s needs in a commercial manner.
Maintain relationships with key customers through regular meetings and discussions.
Engage in direct trades to strategic destinations such as Egypt, Algeria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, etc.
Oversee and coordinate transactions until fulfillment, control of possible demurrage, inventory management, invoice payments, risk exposure, quality control, etc., from origin to final contracted terms.
Actively review all MENA contracts on weekly calls with the team to follow business, manage, and keep them informed of developments and new leads.
Reporting:
Ensure comprehensive follow-up on all reporting aspects for the region.
Manage reporting, accounts receivable, and related topics for MENA reports.
- Collect local market data based on supply, demand, price trends for the Coffee Platform.
Qualifications: Your profile:
University degree ideally focused on commodity trading.
At least 7 years of experience in coffee.
Experience in origins logistics is a plus.
Detailed knowledge of coffee including sensory aspects, defects, and quality.
Understanding of hedging and pricing mechanisms.
Advanced user of Excel, CRM systems, and reporting tools.
Fluent in English; proficiency in French and/or Arabic is a strong plus.
Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable participating in public conferences and planning specific events (visits, origin trips, meetings) to develop commercial relationships with clients and suppliers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
