Loyola University Chicago School of Law is searching for a Law Assistant Technology Specialist with the ability to provide broad-based hardware and software user support, instructional technology support, and project-based work. As a member of the LSCS team, this position performs a range of technical functions, system maintenance, configuration and troubleshooting of all Law School desktop, server and classroom technology systems. Additionally, this position requires the ability to respond to changing priorities based on the time of the semester and special projects and initiatives. The successful candidate will be open and receptive to new information, ideas, and approaches, work to keep abreast of new and evolving technologies, and be adaptable to benefit the needs of the unit. As directed, the Law Assistant Technology Specialist creates user documentation and provides training to Law faculty, staff and students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support and process day to day service requests.
  • Perform initial intake of new LSCS email, in person and phone requests for service from Law users, loading requests into our request tracking system.
  • Work independently and with other team members to troubleshoot and resolve service requests from Law faculty, staff and students.
  • In consultation with the Director of Law Technology and the Sr. Law IT Engineer, establish priorities for service request resolution and coordinating which resources are required to resolve open service requests according to established procedures.
  • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Law school Windows and Mac hardware and software.
  • Install new software releases, system upgrades and patches on Law School systems.
  • Configure and optimize AD Group policies and user objects.
  • Deploy new hardware and maintain a hardware and software inventory database.
  • Manage Windows systems environment utilizing various tools including SCCM and AD and Mac systems environment utilizing various tools including Jamf.
  • Provide classroom technology support to Law faculty, staff and student users.
  • Provide maintenance, updates and troubleshooting of classroom technology system.
  • Provide Law faculty, staff and student training for Law School software and hardware systems.
  • Create and edit user and system documentation.
  • Support Law School Laptop Exams.
  • Assist with the pre exam setup and support during exam periods.
  • Work as a member of a team on various types of technology projects that support Law staff, faculty, students and departments.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in related area. 2+ years of technical experience or related field. General knowledge of commonly used industry concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Creating internal system and user documentation.
  • Windows OS, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Exchange or similar e-mail systems.
  • Troubleshooting PC/Macintosh hardware and software.
  • Configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Active Directory.
  • Configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Classroom and AV technology.
  • An understanding of network technologies.
  • Using Ghost imaging software or equivalent.
  • Using Microsoft SCCM.
  • Using PowerShell and other scripting.
  • Project management experience.
  • Providing technical training or related.
