We are currently seeking to employ a motivated and enthusiastic Java Software Engineer to strengthen our team of software and system engineers to develop a new control software for Columbus, the European module on the International Space Station (ISS). The main objective will be to develop software and implement new components in the systems.
What you’ll do
- Develop the next-generation Monitoring & Control System of Columbus, the European laboratory attached to the International Space Station
- Act as a technical lead for the design and implementation of sub-components of the system in compliance with the overall system architecture
- Create technical documentation of implementation in Wiki system and UML Model
- Support proactive evolution of current technology stack throughout the initial development phase and subsequent maintenance phase
What we are looking for
- A university degree in computer science, engineering or in a similar subject
- Proficient in Java 11/17, Apache Karaf (OSGi) Framework, OSGi methodology and Kubernetes
- DevOps mindset and experience in CI/CD pipelines based on Nexus, Jenkins, Git and Docker
- Experience in agile software development lifecycles, with the Atlassian Tool Suite
- Experience in Linux environments and supplementary scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python)
- Fluency in English
- The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Experience in web-frontend development based on the React framework
- Experience in Apache Service Mix platform and Apache Kafka
- EU nationality required
- It is required to work on-site at least 1x/week
