The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a
Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track)
of Personalised Drug Therapy and Drug Safety
funded by Stiftung Patient & Klinische Pharmazie
commencing as soon as possible.
The professorship will be located at the Institute of Laboratory Medicine, University Hospital, LMU Munich.
The professorship will conduct cutting-edge projects at the interface of clinical-pharmaceutical and biomedical research to translate personalised drug therapy and drug safety into clinical routine. Research will focus on the study and definition of indicators for therapeutic monitoring and verification of therapeutic effects, using biochemical, genetic, cell-biological, physiological, epidemiological or functional techniques. It aims at implementation in inpatient care practice as well as evaluation of outcome and patient benefit. The endowed professorship will provide interdisciplinary teaching in the field of drug therapy safety and is responsible for the overall management and development of the already successfully established, structured PhD programme in Clinical Pharmacy. Participation in the training of physicians for board certification in “Pharmacology” at the Bavarian State Medical Association is desired.
Interprofessional skills, experience in leading a large research group and successful acquisition of external funding are expected. Preferably, the applicant will have experience in the management and development of structured PhD programmes. In addition, the applicant should have experience in the clinical implementation of personalised drug therapy and clinical biomedical research.
LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree and a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.
The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.
