The Opportunity

We are partnering with a Series A-funded AI company building intelligent software for complex business environments.

This is an opportunity to join a small, highly capable engineering team where AI is central to the product, not an experimental side project.

You will work across software engineering and applied AI, taking ideas from early concept through to production. The focus is on building systems that solve real problems, work reliably with real-world data and create measurable value.

This is a hands-on role with significant ownership. You will have the freedom to shape how new AI capabilities are designed, built and deployed in production.

What you'll do

• Build and ship AI-powered products and features from concept through to production
• Design backend services, APIs, data pipelines and intelligent workflows
• Work with real-world structured and unstructured data
• Develop Agentic AI agents and LLM-powered applications
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing software and business workflows
• Experiment with different models, tools and approaches, then turn what works into reliable production systems
• Build systems that can reason, retrieve information, use tools and take actions
• Work closely with product and engineering colleagues to turn ambiguous problems into practical technical solutions
• Monitor, evaluate and continuously improve AI systems once they are in production
• Use modern AI development tools to accelerate how you build and iterate
• Take genuine ownership of technical decisions rather than simply implementing tickets

What we're looking for

We're looking for an engineer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with genuine hands-on experience building AI systems.

You don't need to come from a traditional ML background. What matters is that you can build software and understand how to use modern AI technologies to create production-ready solutions.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong experience with Python OR TypeScript
• Good working knowledge of SQL + Vector databases.
• Experience building production software, APIs or backend systems
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and modern AI APIs
• Experience building AI-powered applications, agents or intelligent workflows
• An understanding of how to work with real-world data
• Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to engineering
• The ability to operate comfortably when requirements aren't perfectly defined
• A genuine interest in how AI can change the way software is built
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluent German is a must
• Based in or willing to work from Munich on a hybrid basis.

You should care about writing software that is maintainable, reliable and scalable.

The expectation isn't simply to get an AI prototype working. You'll need to think about architecture, reliability, observability, testing and what happens when the system meets real users and real data. We are looking for somebody with 6 months' worth of productionised based agentic AI / Multi-Agent Orchestration.

• You want a narrowly defined engineering role with little ambiguity
• You prefer working exclusively on either software engineering or AI rather than combining both
• You are primarily interested in academic AI or model research
• You prefer building prototypes but don't have production-ready experience
• You need detailed specifications before starting a problem
• You don't enjoy taking ownership beyond your immediate technical task
• You prefer large teams with clearly defined processes and layers of management
• You don't enjoy experimenting, iterating and changing direction when something doesn't work
