Overview
This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations. It includes a full range of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, such as education and counseling, one‑on‑one sessions, briefings, presentations, and referrals to external resources.
Responsibilities
- Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develops and distributes informational financial materials.
- Coordinates, publicizes, and delivers a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, career events).
- Responds to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilizes virtual counseling or electronic communication modes, such as web‑based, secure online chat, or video‑based communications; virtual PFC support may only be authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manages duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
- Communicates with leadership and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information about trends and issues on the assigned installation.
- Participates in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (associate degree plus 4 years’ experience or high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience may be considered).
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluent English; bilingual English/Spanish if required by contract.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
