Senior Scientist ARD Functional Assays – Biacore and Binding (all genders)

Deadline: November 26, 2024

Alvotech is a global biopharmaceutical company that is in the process of establishing itself as one of the leaders in the biosimilar industry. The company is headquartered in Reykjavik, Iceland and has an increasingly global presence, relying on a broad network of partners around the world.

For the Analytical Research and Development department (ARD) in Jülich, we are looking for a Senior Scientist in a temporary position (14 months) as a maternity replacement. The Senior Scientist is mainly responsible for development and execution of SPR-based analytical methods for biosimilar characterization. Analyses of GMP samples from e.g., head-to-head similarity studies, as well as developmental samples requiring custom approaches are routinely performed. The position is central within the Biacore and Binding group, working closely with the group’s Manager to define approaches and outline work, while the Senior Scientist independently plans and executes the relevant experiments. Furthermore, the scientist provides guidance and troubleshooting for the laboratory technicians on a daily basis. The scientist is further responsible for data analysis and writing of method development and qualification reports.

Scope and Responsibility

  • Analysis of samples to support analytical development, cell line development, and upstream / downstream process development
  • Generation of result evaluations / summaries / reports
  • Design, performance, documentation, and evaluation of experiments for method development and method qualifications / validations (e.g., surface plasmon resonance, ELISA-based binding assays, nanoDSF/DLS)
  • Planning, coordination of assays, and experimental setup in respect to timelines, resources, and capacities
  • Biochemical and protein chemical methods such as covalent protein modification, concentration determination, buffer exchange, or electrophoresis
  • Assurance of method readiness and instrument usability for all ligand binding assays
  • Taking over responsibilities for laboratory devices and further lab management tasks shared with team members

Job Requirements

  • At minimum Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline, and minimum 1 year of work experience
  • Experience in relevant analytical methods, e.g., SPR, immunological methods (e.g., ELISA, ECL-ELISA, Multiplex), DLS/DSF, spectroscopic, and/or other biophysical techniques
  • Experience in method development and method qualification / validation
  • Quality management experience
  • Attention to detail and precise work habits
  • Fluent command of German and English
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in use of a PC and common Microsoft packages as well as work specific laboratory instrumentation and analysis software

What We Offer:

  • An inspiring challenge to work with great co-workers on ambitious projects that change people’s lives

  • An international work culture that encourages diversity, collaboration and inclusion.
  • Positive, flexible, and innovative work environment.
  • Support for personal growth and internal career development.
  • Exercise and wellbeing support for employees.
  • Company social events and milestone celebrations
