Direct Tax Manager in Frankfurt am Main

An international group is looking to add a qualified Steuerberater to its team. The role blends core German tax responsibilities with group reporting and strategic projects, making it a strong fit for someone who wants a real say in how an in-house tax function develops.

You’ll work alongside Finance, Accounting and Legal colleagues, as well as the group’s external advisors.

The role:

• Oversee corporate and trade tax compliance for the German entities, including returns and the review of assessments.
• Act as the main contact for tax authorities and handle audits from start to finish.
• Take responsibility for current and deferred tax under IFRS and HGB within the quarterly and annual close.
• Support Pillar Two reporting and help manage tax risk across the group.
• Assess the impact of new legislation and provide tax input on transactions and restructurings.
• Improve processes through automation and digital solutions.

What you’ll need:

• A degree in tax, finance, economics, law or a similar field, together with the Steuerberater qualification.
• At least five years in corporate tax, gained in advisory, in-house or a mix of both.
• In-depth knowledge of German corporate and trade tax, plus IFRS/HGB tax accounting.
• Experience with Pillar Two, cross-border matters or M&A is an advantage, as is familiarity with ERP systems.
• An independent working style and the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly to non-specialists.
• Fluent German and English.
