Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal function. The business develops and operates wind energy projects, and this role supports those projects from initial planning through to repowering, covering contract, corporate and M&A work alongside renewable energy, planning, permitting and environmental law.

The role:

• Negotiate, draft and review commercial agreements, particularly purchase, usage and loan contracts, and shape solutions that are practical and commercially sound.
• Provide independent legal advice to the project development team at every stage, from early development and construction to operation and repowering.
• Handle the regulatory side of projects, including renewable energy, planning, permitting and environmental law.
• Work on renewables transactions, including the purchase and sale of companies, project acquisitions, due diligence, and the drafting and negotiation of deal documents.
• Assist with corporate matters such as articles of association, partnership and shareholder agreements, shareholder resolutions, capital measures and wider restructurings.

What you'll need:

• At least the First State Examination; Second State Examination also accepted.
• Legal experience gained in-house or in private practice, with sound knowledge of contract and commercial law.
• Familiarity with renewable energy, planning, permitting or environmental law is a plus.
• A structured, self-directed way of working, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and pragmatically as part of a team.
