Senior Compliance Officer | Berlin
A fast-growing, regulated business operating across Europe is expanding into the German market and building out its compliance function to support that entry.
This role carries a mandate to help establish how compliance operates in-market, rather than maintain an existing setup, with direct involvement in how the business engages with the regulator from the outset.
The role
→ Own operational compliance across the German entity, keeping activity aligned with regulatory expectations.
→ Advise on product governance, vulnerable customer policy, conflicts of interest, outsourcing, and conduct risk for current and upcoming products.
→ Lead the review process for marketing and promotional material, ensuring it clears regulatory standards before release.
→ Drive compliance projects end to end, working cross-functionally to meet agreed deadlines.
→ Maintain compliance policies and procedures, ensuring they are followed in practice, not just documented.
→ Build relationships with stakeholders across the business, providing practical, tailored compliance guidance.
→ Work alongside the Legal team on regulatory interactions, including the relationship with the German regulator.
What you'll need
→ At least five years' experience in a compliance role within a regulated financial services firm, including senior-level responsibilities.
→ Strong working knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to the German market.
→ Professional proficiency in English; German language skills are a strong advantage.
→ A track record of driving compliance outcomes independently, not just supporting others.
