We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with expertise in Trade Compliance to ensure adherence to global trade regulations. You will advise on import/export laws, sanctions, and customs procedures, support legal compliance strategies, and promote a strong compliance culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance on trade compliance in the EU, UK, and US. Interpret and apply import/export laws, customs regulations, and sanctions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate trade compliance clauses in contracts.
- Develop and implement legal frameworks, policies, and SOPs to ensure global compliance.
- Conduct training sessions and create materials on trade compliance updates and best practices.
- Represent the organisation in discussions with external authorities, support audits, and manage administrative proceedings.
- Work closely with legal teams, trade compliance experts, and business leaders to align compliance strategies.
- Monitor regulatory changes, conduct risk assessments, and refine compliance practices.
Requirements:
- Law degree with a focus on commercial law and strong academic record.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in trade compliance, ideally within multinational corporations or law firms.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, customs procedures, and sanctions compliance.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to manage complex legal matters independently, with strong problem-solving skills.
