Tax Specialist

Our client is looking for a tax specialist to strengthen its tax compliance function. This is a varied, hands-on role combining governance, process improvement and internal advisory work, with plenty of scope to shape how tax risk is managed across the business.

You’ll act as the go-to tax contact for colleagues across the organisation, keep internal guidance current, and help move tax processes towards greater digitisation. It suits someone who enjoys both the detail of compliance and the challenge of making processes work better.

The role:

• Advise colleagues across the business on tax matters and assess new initiatives from a tax perspective before they launch.
• Own the governance side of tax compliance, including keeping policies current, testing key processes and partnering with internal audit on regular reviews.
• Keep the business ahead of legislative change by translating new requirements into clear guidance for the teams affected.
• Build tax awareness across the organisation through training sessions you design and run.
• Manage the supporting tax technology and find ways to automate and streamline how the function works.

What you’ll need:

• A tax-focused background in business or economics, or a vocational tax qualification. Strong practical experience backed by further training is equally welcome.
• Practical exposure to tax compliance and filing, ideally including indirect tax returns.
• An analytical, quick-learning mindset and real enthusiasm for improving how things are done.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload while working well within a team.
• An approachable, service-minded manner and the confidence to explain tax topics clearly to non-specialists.
