We are seeking a
Junior Laboratory Technician/Technologist
with an electrical background to support critical testing for the Nomex® and Kevlar® product lines. This position will primarily support the Electric Solutions and Defense segments and will strengthen our technical support team. This involves close collaboration with engineers and customers to develop and validate test procedures for various applications.
Key Responsibilities Perform under
minimum supervision
complex technical operations and/or tests to provide samples and/or data, solve technical problems and support development programs.
Electric Solutions Support (50%)
Perform electrical testing of insulating materials: papers, polymer fibers, fabrics and composites based on Nomex®
Perform mechanical testing on papers, polymer fibers, fabrics and composites based on Nomex®
Set, adjust and operate technical equipment SAFELY and/or testing instruments, record and verify results.
Suggest improvements in test procedures.
Self-train in new test methods.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and update equipment for standard and non-standard tests related to specific customer programs.
Coordinate and execute work requests and independently write reports.
Manage lab infrastructures: Responsible for equipment (set-up, maintenance, procedures, safety)
Comply with safety guidelines, business ethics and internal control processes
Defense Support (50%)
Sample preparation (operating multiple types of equipment: manual and automatic cutting machines, sewing and welding machines, and hydraulic presses)
Assist with and perform ballistic testing on fabrics and composite panels
Organize sample shipments (prepare samples, package them, coordinate with the logistics team, and update the database/stock records)
Follow work requests and communicate results to engineers
Adapt testing conditions, develop new tests, or establish new testing methods
Manage laboratory infrastructure: responsible for equipment setup, maintenance, procedures, and safety
Qualifications
Degree, CFC, or Bac+2 in a relevant technical field (electrical background is recommended)
Previous experience in electrical machines industry, or high voltage testing of insulation materials would be an advantage
Experience in laboratory safety procedures
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Rigorous, organized, and safety-conscious
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Collaborative mindset in work with other technicians, engineers locally and globally.
Independent and proactive with minimal supervision
Fluent in French and able to communicate effectively in English, particularly in technical contexts
