Your Role
As a Video Editor (m/f/d), you will be independently responsible for the editorial concept and scripting of our thematic videos. You will also develop well-researched interview guides for our interviews. You’ll independently decide which topics, debates, and personalities are relevant for our formats. To do this, you’ll research suitable interview guests, identify compelling interviewees, and professionally reach out to and coordinate interview requests. You’ll prepare interviews in a way that fosters in-depth, surprising, and socially relevant conversations. In doing so, you’ll work closely with Marc Friedrich and the production team.
Absolutely necessary
- Experience: Several years of verifiable experience in editing, journalism, content production, YouTube, podcasts, and news, documentary, or interview formats.
- Scriptwriting Skills: You have extensive experience writing journalistic or dramaturgical video scripts and can present complex topics in a way that is clear, engaging, and to the point. You research appropriate graphics, archival images, or B-roll footage. You can prepare interviews from a dramaturgical perspective, develop precise questions, and highlight relevant perspectives and contradictions.
- An Eye for Topics: You’re already comfortable navigating the realms of politics, society, and finance; you follow relevant developments on your own initiative; and you’re eager to truly understand how things are connected.
- Language: Excellent written and spoken German, as well as very good English skills.
- Mindset: You don't just go with the flow; instead, you question established narratives, explore different perspectives, and bring a healthy dose of humor to the table.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with YouTube-specific storytelling, watch time, and viewer engagement
- Existing network of experts, authors, journalists, or other potential interview guests
- Experience with AI-powered research, transcription, or editing tools
