Job Summary

The Urea Technologist is expected to initiate, propose, and execute research and development, debottlenecking/revamp, energy saving, and sustainability improvement programs directed towards the improvement of processes and commercial technologies. The role involves leading in-house new process technology development, scale-up, and implementations in commercial plants. The technologist will provide technology support to commercial plants for shutdown, turnover, and re-commissioning as needed, as well as troubleshooting and root cause analysis support to drive problem resolution. Additionally, the technologist is expected to provide support in growth projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis support for commercial plants.
2. Develop plant-wide models in Aspen Plus or similar software.
3. Guide plant improvements and performance based on model outcomes.
4. Participate in in-house new process technology development, scale-up, and implementations in commercial plants.
5. Carry out energy and mass balance calculations.
6. Conduct energy optimization and pinch studies.
7. Perform pump hydraulics calculations.
8. Design and calculate heat exchangers.
9. Evaluate various catalyst performances.
10. Conduct feasibility studies and revamp studies.
11. Independently review engineering documents and steer design processes.
12. Design and supervise pilot plant experimental runs, including data interpretation and reporting.
13. Collect and interpret plant process data for recommendations and optimization.
14. Actively contribute to plant safety and quality programs.

Requirements:

1. This role requires the candidate to permanently relocate to Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
2. Preferably holds a Master’s or PhD degree.
3. Master’s degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience, or PhD with a minimum of 10 years of experience in technology development, plant support, modeling, and optimization.
4. Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning abilities.
5. Strong leadership skills to effectively collaborate and influence individuals from diverse disciplines and cultures.
6. Ability to create, foster, and drive a culture of innovation within the organization.
