Job Summary
The Urea Technologist is expected to initiate, propose, and execute research and development, debottlenecking/revamp, energy saving, and sustainability improvement programs directed towards the improvement of processes and commercial technologies. The role involves leading in-house new process technology development, scale-up, and implementations in commercial plants. The technologist will provide technology support to commercial plants for shutdown, turnover, and re-commissioning as needed, as well as troubleshooting and root cause analysis support to drive problem resolution. Additionally, the technologist is expected to provide support in growth projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis support for commercial plants.
- Develop plant-wide models in Aspen Plus or similar software.
- Guide plant improvements and performance based on model outcomes.
- Participate in in-house new process technology development, scale-up, and implementations in commercial plants.
- Carry out energy and mass balance calculations.
- Conduct energy optimization and pinch studies.
- Perform pump hydraulics calculations.
- Design and calculate heat exchangers.
- Evaluate various catalyst performances.
- Conduct feasibility studies and revamp studies.
- Independently review engineering documents and steer design processes.
- Design and supervise pilot plant experimental runs, including data interpretation and reporting.
- Collect and interpret plant process data for recommendations and optimization.
- Actively contribute to plant safety and quality programs.
Requirements:
- This role requires the candidate to permanently relocate to Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
- Preferably holds a Master’s or PhD degree.
- Master’s degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience, or PhD with a minimum of 10 years of experience in technology development, plant support, modeling, and optimization.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning abilities.
- Strong leadership skills to effectively collaborate and influence individuals from diverse disciplines and cultures.
- Ability to create, foster, and drive a culture of innovation within the organization.
