The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in the Helmholtz Association is an international biomedical research center dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of health and disease with the goal to devise new diagnostics and medicines. The MDC is a member of the Helmholtz Association, Germany’s largest scientific organization, and offers an engaging research environment with cutting-edge research infrastructure. Currently, ~1250 employees and ~500 guest scientists work at the Berlin-Buch and Berlin-Mitte campuses. Our diverse workforce is a core strength that inspires creativity and innovation at the MDC.
The MDC is committed to improving human health through transformative biomedical research. Our goal is to pioneer discoveries for preventing, treating, and ultimately curing disease.
The Advanced Light Microscopy and Image Analysis (ALM) Technology Platform (TP) as part of the MDC scientific infrastructures supports and enables a wide portfolio of imaging technologies, ranging from super-resolution, TIRF and confocal microscopy to light-sheet imaging (Blaze UM, Zeiss Z7) and 2-Photon/intravital microscopy as well as high-multiplex spatial phenotyping. In addition, ALM supports researchers with sample clearing and image data analysis. In collaboration with MDC researchers, ALM works to advance imaging methodologies and deepen insights into disease mechanisms.
ALM TP is looking for a curious, creative, and motivated Imaging Scientist/Postdoc with a strong background in fluorescence microscopy and/or light-sheet imaging and molecular/cellular biology (part-time, 30 hrs/week) to implement correlative light-sheet and MR imaging of cardiovascular structures in the frame of a VASBIO grant funded project and to support the ALM team in everyday user support.
Job Description
The tasks of the Imaging Specialist include (but are not limited to) two main duties:
In the frame of a VASBIO grant-funded project in collaboration between ALM and the Berlin Ultrahigh Field MRI facility at MDC:
- Establishment and optimization of sample clearing and labeling as well as light-sheet imaging of cardiovascular tissue structures.
- Optimization of data processing and analysis of light-sheet images and correlation with MRI images.
As part of the general ALM user and project support:
- Support researchers by training, assistance and troubleshooting in executing advanced imaging experiments, with a focus on confocal microscopy.
