The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in the Helmholtz Association is an international biomedical research center dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of health and disease with the goal to devise new diagnostics and medicines. The MDC has also launched a Systems Biology program, the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB), to integrate systems biology and systems medicine approaches. BIMSB is located in a dedicated research building in the Center of Berlin. The Flow Cytometry Service at the Genomics Platform of the BIMSB provides comprehensive flow cytometry solutions with a special focus to downstream single cell RNA sequencing assays. Equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, our facility offers high-parameter analysis and cell sorting to support a wide range of applications. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Technical Assistant (m/f/d) to support the Flow Cytometry Service within our Genomics Platform.
Job Description
The Flow Cytometry team provides expert guidance on experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis, helping researchers to maximize data quality and achieve reproducible results. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering research in a dynamic, collaborative environment at the forefront of genomics and systems biology.
Key responsibilities:
- Assistance of flow cytometry experiments and cell sorting to support users and their various research projects.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate flow cytometry instruments (FACSAriaIII, FACSAriaFusion, LSRFortessa X-20, FACSDiscover S8).
- Guide and support researchers in the planning and execution of flow cytometry experiments.
- Troubleshoot experiments.
- Minor repairs of instruments.
- Manage sample inventory and data in a systematic and organized database.
Requirements
- Completed training as a technical assistant (BTA, MTA, CTA) (m/f/d) or a comparable qualification in biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry (Bachelor or Master).
- Solid knowledge and, ideally, practical experience in flow cytometry.
- Strong organizational skills and a high sense of responsibility.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Experience with working in a S2/BL2 lab is a plus.
- Knowledge in genomic technologies is an advantage.
