At the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research, one of the 84 institutes of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science, physicists, chemists, and biologists create knowledge of long-term relevance to life and basic medical sciences. Currently, our around 270 employees are divided into four departments and two Max Planck Research Groups. In addition, the institute is part of the Health + Life Science Alliance Heidelberg Mannheim – an association of the leading life science research institutions in the region.
The Department of Cellular Biophysics (Prof. Dr. Joachim P. Spatz) is looking for a Technical Assistant (BTA) or Laboratory Assistant in the field of Molecular Biology for the Stuttgart location (later Heilbronn location).
Responsibilities
- Direct collaboration with PhD students and postdocs on cutting-edge research
- Recombinant protein purification and protein isolation from natural resources, e.g., red blood cells
- Cloning, amplification, and transfection of plasmids
- Support the organization of biochemistry and cell culture laboratories
- Support the management of research and data infrastructure
Qualifications
- Completed vocational training as a technical assistant (BTA), laboratory technician in molecular biology, biochemistry, or biotechnology, or comparable scientific training
- Practical laboratory experience in biochemistry, cell culture, and protein purification
- Preferably experience with the planning and execution of cloning procedures
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, high flexibility, and team spirit
- Independent, goal-oriented, analytical way of working
- Very good written and oral communication skills in German and English
- Willingness to acquire knowledge in new areas and to contribute creatively to the further development of the research focus
