Join the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry (MPIB) in Martinsried, Germany, as a Coordinator for the development of “The German Postdoc Network (GPN)”. This position, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation for three years, aims to establish a sustainable network representing and supporting postdocs within and outside the scientific community. The Coordinator will work closely with another Coordinator at Helmholtz Munich to implement the project plan and foster collaboration among postdocs nationwide.
Research Area: Developmental and Evolutionary Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Infection Biology, Medicine, Structural and Cell Biology
Location: Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, Martinsried, Germany
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD degree; experience in science management is advantageous
- Thorough understanding of the German scientific system and current discussions concerning postdocs
- Experience in network building, group coordination, or similar activities
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and content management systems; experience with web development and social media is desirable
- Excellent communication skills in German and English; ability to represent the project professionally
- Willingness to travel, both domestically and internationally, as needed
Job Description:
- Collaborate closely with another Coordinator at Helmholtz Munich to establish the “German Postdoc Network” nationwide
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the project plan
- Assist in forming and coordinating working groups to address postdoc needs and challenges
- Cooperate with project partners and relevant networks to enhance visibility and communication
- Organize and moderate events, including the annual “Postdoc Appreciation Week”
- Manage communication channels such as newsletters, social media, and the project website
- Create marketing and informational materials on topics like onboarding, career development, and networking
- Support the Career Development Team in organizing and promoting campaigns and events
