Who You\’ll Work With

You will be based in one of our European offices as part of our Operations Practice.

Our Operations Practice assists clients in solving complex operational challenges. Combining strategic thinking with practical implementation, our teams develop and execute operational strategies to address critical issues.

McKinsey’s Product Development & Procurement service line helps clients develop market-fit products, generate margins, create platforms for growth, and enhance brand reputation. Our work includes defining and implementing strategies for innovation and business performance, as well as advising on global sourcing, e-procurement, supplier development, and purchasing organization formation.

As a McKinsey Consultant, you will be challenged and supported in your professional growth, working with top organizations to solve their toughest problems.

Your Impact

You will actively participate in client problem-solving, including issue identification, hypothesis formulation, analysis design and execution, and synthesizing findings into actionable recommendations.

Through our two-year Operations Excellence Program (OEP), you will engage in client projects, gaining advanced operational and consulting skills via on-the-job coaching and structured training.

This position marks the beginning of a rewarding and flexible career with McKinsey. Early on, you will serve as a Consultant across multiple engagements, acquiring the expertise to help companies excel operationally.

You will participate in functional training and knowledge development, focusing on operations excellence themes, including specialization in manufacturing, product development, purchasing, service operations, supply chain management, or capital excellence.

Upon completing the program, successful consultants join our global network of operational excellence experts, with opportunities at all levels of the firm.

Your Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree and outstanding academic record
• Experience in product development, such as product optimization, R&D project leadership, or technical supplier management
• Experience in strategic purchasing or supply management, including global sourcing, category management, RfQ, negotiations, and capability building
• Proven leadership in professional or extracurricular activities
• Willingness and ability to undertake European assignments during the work week
• Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills in English and the local language, both verbal and written
