At Medirion, we are developing an AI-powered thermography platform for the early triage of rheumatoid arthritis. By combining standardized thermal imaging, clinical data and AI, we aim to help healthcare providers identify patients who require specialist care earlier.
With clinical data collection already running across multiple partner clinics, we are now preparing Medirion for its next stage of international growth.
The Role
You’ll design and build Medirion's cloud and backend platform, owning the full data flow from our devices in clinics through secure transfer and cloud infrastructure to backend services, analytics, and the pipelines that feed our machine-learning work.
This is a hands-on role with real architectural ownership. Because we handle sensitive medical data, security, access control, and traceability are core requirements. We plan to use a European cloud provider such as STACKIT, but you’ll shape the final architecture.
What You’ll Do
- Design the cloud architecture and build backend services, APIs, and data pipelines
- Design storage and processing for raw medical data, metadata, and derived results
- Provide the data foundation for analytics, KPIs, and ML workflows
- Implement IAM, encryption, secrets management, audit logging, backups, and monitoring
- Set up infrastructure-as-code, containers, and CI/CD
What You Bring
- Several years in cloud, backend, platform, or DevOps engineering, including designing systems, not just operating them
- Strong experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, STACKIT, or similar (STACKIT is a plus)
- Solid backend development skills, ideally in Python
- Hands‑on experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD, or equivalents
- Good understanding of databases, object storage, APIs, networking, and authentication
- Independence, pragmatism, and comfort owning technical decisions
- Good English; German is a plus
Nice to have: experience with medical, financial, or other sensitive data, and familiarity with GDPR, pseudonymization, auditability, and European data sovereignty. You don’t need to be a legal expert, but you should understand how privacy requirements shape architecture.
This is not a conventional Cloud & Backend Engineering position. You will have the opportunity to build Medirion’s cloud and backend infrastructure from the ground up, take real architectural ownership, and grow into broader technical leadership as the company scales.
