Category Manager

Job Title: Category Manager, Electronics Systems

Location: Danvers, MA or Aachen, Germany

Position Type: Full-time

Work Type: Hybrid (3 days on site)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Category Manager, Electronics Systems to manage electronic component categories crucial for heart-saving products. This individual will support sourcing strategies, build supplier relationships, and ensure the delivery of financial, quality, and service targets. The position will require collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to optimize sourcing decisions and drive value improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sourcing:
  • Lead and support sourcing initiatives to identify the right supplier partners and drive value improvements.
  • Analyze spend and market intelligence in line with business goals.
  • Deliver financial, service, reliability, quality, and innovation commitments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the organization and with suppliers.
  • Support the development of sourcing strategies for new product developments.
  • Lead cost management initiatives and execute RFQs for medium to high complexity sourcing decisions.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers.
  • Develop and manage supplier partnerships to drive performance, risk mitigation, and innovation.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with business partners and suppliers.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, and pursue opportunities to develop supplier capabilities.
  • Conduct Business Review meetings to evaluate supplier performance.
  • Category Strategy Development:
    • Support the creation of category sourcing strategies based on business needs, market intelligence, and supplier evaluations.
    • Engage proactively with business partners to incorporate their needs into category strategies.
    • Develop a supply network based on supply market analysis and industry intelligence.
  • Contracting:
    • Manage contract creation, approval, and compliance to optimize performance and minimize risk.
    • Ensure contracts align with business needs and the overall procurement strategy.
  • Project Support:
    • Represent procurement in supply chain initiatives, including capacity programs and digital tools adoption.
    • Support projects to achieve procurement KPIs.
    • Escalate issues and risks impacting the procurement organization and supply chain.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: BS in Engineering, Operations/Supply Chain Management, or related field (MBA/MS preferred).
    • Experience:
    • A minimum of 6 years of strong procurement experience.
    • Experience in multiple supply chain disciplines such as External Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Distribution.
    • Familiarity with motors, cables, wires, printed circuit board assembly, semiconductor, and battery industries is preferred.

    Skills:

    • Broad understanding of business operations and procurement practices.
    • Strong leadership, communication, influencing, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to present complex information clearly.
    • Experience in electronics or medical devices (specifically relevant to heart-saving technologies).
    • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is preferred.
    • Continuous improvement/lean/six sigma experience (black belt preferred).
    • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 30% internationally.
