Key Responsibilities
MES & Level 3 Integration
- Support the design of integration architectures between automation (Level 2), MES and other Level 3 systems, and ERP (Level 4) based on ISA-95
- Specify and test interfaces for orders, materials, recipes, equipment status, and electronic batch records
- Contribute to the integration of modular plants and process orchestration layers (POL) with MES
Historian & Manufacturing Data
- Configure and connect historians and data sources for process, batch, and equipment data (e.g. AVEVA PI, Aspen IP.21)
- Contribute to data models and contextualization for reporting, analytics, and continued process verification
- Work with OPC UA, MQTT, and Unified Namespace concepts
Process Analysis & Solution Design
- Analyze production and quality processes on the shop floor and document as-is workflows, pain points, and data flows
- Translate process requirements into solution concepts and identify the right system layer (automation, MES, historian, workflow platform, or ERP)
- Define to-be processes, user requirements, and fit-gap analyses for system selection and implementation
Project Delivery
- Own defined work packages within client projects and report progress, effort, and open points
- Prepare, co-facilitate, and document workshops with production, automation, IT, and QA stakeholders
- Write requirements, functional specifications, and test documentation
Compliance
- Apply GAMP 5, data integrity requirements (ALCOA+), 21 CFR Part 11, and EU GMP Annex 11, with guidance where needed
- Support risk-based testing together with our validation consultants
Your Profile
Must-have
- Degree in computer science, information systems, automation, process engineering, or a related field
- 2–5 years in Manufacturing IT, MES, automation, or integration projects, preferably in pharma, biotech, or other GMP environments
- Hands-on experience with at least one Level 3 system or platform (e.g. MES, historian, LIMS, or a workflow platform)
- Experience analyzing production or business processes and translating them into requirements and solution concepts
- Good understanding of interfaces and integration technologies (ISA-95, OPC UA, REST APIs, SQL)
- Basic knowledge of GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity
- Confident in client‑facing communication
Strong Advantage
- Experience with process modeling methods (e.g. BPMN, value stream mapping)
- Experience with an MES (e.g. Körber PAS-X, Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell PharmaSuite, Emerson Syncade)
- Historian experience (e.g. AVEVA PI, Aspen IP.21)
- Knowledge of MTP, POL, or modular production concepts
- First consulting or system-integrator experience
Personal Skills
- Structured thinker who documents clearly and keeps decisions traceable
- Eager to learn and take on responsibility step by step
- Clear communicator with production, IT, QA, and management
- Fluent in English; German is an advantage
- Willingness to travel to client sites across Europe
