Business Development Director (m/f/d)

Merz Therapeutics is a specialty neuroscience company committed to expanding our global development and commercial portfolios through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. We are seeking a Director of Business Development (m/f/d) to lead strategic transactions such as in-licensing, M&A, alliances, and partnerships, supporting our Pivot for Growth strategy.

Your Responsibilities

1. Serve as the primary contact for external partners on project-specific business and negotiation matters.
2. Evaluate potential partnerships strategically, considering cross-functional impacts.
3. Support analytical assessments including sales forecasts, cost projections, and valuation models.
4. Lead internal cross-functional deal teams and coordinate due diligence efforts.
5. Prepare and present collaboration opportunities to internal stakeholders and leadership.
6. Structure deals, including term sheets, issue lists, and contracts; lead negotiations on key terms.
7. Participate in strategic reviews of therapeutic areas, competitors, and market trends.
8. Represent the company at industry conferences and build a strong external network.
9. Provide flexible support across strategy, analytics, and search activities during peak periods.

Your Profile

1. Successful completion of a university degree in natural sciences and/or economics.
2. An MBA or relevant graduate degree is advantageous.
3. Minimum of 10 years experience in the biopharma industry, including investment banking, venture capital, or consulting.
4. At least 5 years experience in a business development role.
5. Proven success in in-licensing, M&A, and strategic deal-making.
6. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
7. Experience leading cross-functional teams and presenting to leadership.
8. Deep knowledge of drug development and biopharma partnerships.
9. Excellent communication skills with global, cross-cultural collaboration experience.
