Senior System Engineer Network

For our SME clients in the Bern area, we plan, implement, and operate modern network and security solutions that meet high standards of stability, availability, and protection.

To strengthen our team, we are seeking an experienced professional who will not only operate complex network and firewall infrastructures but also actively develop and modernize them, while taking responsibility for challenging client projects.

Your Responsibilities You plan and implement network projects for our clients and within our data center—covering everything from design and conceptualization to configuration, migration, and successful commissioning.

You operate, optimize, and further develop modern network and firewall infrastructures, focusing on areas such as switching, routing, WLAN, firewalls, and SD‑WAN.

You ensure the stability, security, scalability, and availability of network infrastructures and guarantee reliable operations.

You analyze complex issues as part of 3rd‑level support, resolve them effectively for the long term, and apply your experience to challenging troubleshooting situations.

You collaborate closely with colleagues in systems engineering and security to develop integrated, future‑proof IT architectures.

You identify risks and vulnerabilities early on, determine appropriate security measures, and support the continuous improvement of network and security environments.

You further develop monitoring, standardization, and automation solutions to enable early fault detection and increase the efficiency of operational processes.

You create clear technical documentation and ensure structured, transparent handovers to operations.

You actively contribute your senior‑level expertise to the team, share knowledge with colleagues, and provide support on technical issues arising in projects and daily operations.

Your profile You have completed vocational training as an IT specialist (EFZ) and ideally possess further education at the HF or FH level (or a comparable qualification).

You bring several years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.

You have solid knowledge of routing, switching, WLAN, and firewall technologies.

You have practical experience with Forti Gate firewalls and a strong understanding of network and security architectures.

You are familiar with operating and developing network environments based on Aruba, Juniper, or Cisco.

You have experience planning and implementing infrastructure projects, such as network modernizations, migrations, or firewall concepts.

You work in an analytical, structured, and solution‑oriented manner and maintain a clear overview even in challenging situations.

You value teamwork, contribute actively, and enjoy sharing your knowledge with others.

You possess excellent German skills and good written and spoken English skills.

Certifications in the networking or security field—such as those from HPE Aruba, Juniper, Cisco, or Fortinet—are an advantage. #J-18808-Ljbffr
