Role Overview
We are seekinganexperiencedFPGA / PLD Engineerto support thedevelopment of industrialautomation and embeddedcomputer platforms ona6-month contract.
The successful candidatewill be responsiblefor FPGA architecture, development, verification, hardware integration andvalidation, working closelywith hardware, embeddedsoftware, firmware andtest engineeringteams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop FPGA andprogrammable logic solutionsfor industrial PCs, PLCs and embeddedcomputer platforms.
- Design, implement, verifyand maintain robustFPGA architectures forlong-lifecycle industrial products.
- Support the full FPGA development lifecycle, including:
- Requirements analysis
- Architecture definition
- RTL coding
- Simulation andverification
- Testing and hardwarebring-up
- Documentation and productsupport
- Design and integratehardware interfaces andbus-based communicationsystems, includingPCI, PCIe andbackplane communication.
- Work closely withhardware, embedded software, firmware, test, productmanagement and manufacturingteams to defineinterfaces and resolveintegration challenges.
- Participate inschematic reviews, componentselection and FPGApin assignment activities.
- Support designs involvingPCIe, LVDS andother high-speedcommunication standards.
- Contribute to signal-integrity considerationsand high-speedPCB design androuting.
- Support prototype bring-up, validation, testing, troubleshooting and debugging.
- Work with moderndevelopment tools, simulationenvironments, automatedtesting frameworks andversion-control systems.
- Contribute to continuousimprovement of engineeringprocesses, tools andmethodologies.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Degree inElectrical Engineering,Computer Engineering, EmbeddedSystems, Computer Scienceor a comparabletechnical discipline.
- Strong understanding ofdigital design principles, embedded systems andhardware interfaces.
- Experience with FPGAdevelopment usingVHDL, Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
- Strong analytical andproblem-solving skills.
- Experience working withincross-functional andinternationalengineering teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with FPGA development environments such as:
- AMD/Xilinx Vivado
- Microchip Libero
- Intel Quartus
- Lattice development tools
- Or comparable FPGAtoolsets
- Experience integratingthird-partyIP blocksinto FPGA designs.
- Knowledge of simulation, verification, scripting, automation and CI/CD.
- Experience with high-speed hardware interfacesand communication protocols.
- Practical laboratory experiencewithoscilloscopes, logic analysersand programmable powersupplies.
- German language skillswould beadvantageous.
- Experience with moderndevelopment methodologiesand engineering bestpractices.
