For a challenging naval shipbuilding project in Lower Saxony, Germany, we are looking for a Lead Planner who can see the bigger picture and actively contribute to the overall planning and coordination of the project. In this role, you will work directly within the program management team and take responsibility for the functional leadership of two operational planners. While your team handles the detailed planning, you will maintain an overall view of project progress, milestones, and dependencies, ensuring that all stakeholders remain aligned.
Tasks
- Overseeing and coordinating the overall planning of a complex naval shipbuilding project
- Providing functional leadership and coordination of two operational project planners
- Maintaining an overall view of project progress, schedules, milestones, and dependencies
- Representing project planning in discussions with external partners and customer organizations (e.g. BAAINBw, German Navy)
- Working closely with program management and coordinating with internal departments
- Identifying and communicating planning deviations, risks, and areas requiring action
- Preparing and supporting strategic planning meetings and decision-making processes
German language skills at C1 level or above are essential for this role.
Job requirements
- A completed degree in a technical or business-related field, or an equivalent qualification
- Professional experience in shipbuilding and a good understanding of complex project processes
- Practical experience in project planning or project management, without necessarily specializing in detailed operational scheduling
- Excellent communication skills, diplomacy, and political awareness
- Experience coordinating teams and managing relationships with various stakeholders
- Strategic thinking, strong organizational skills, and a confident, professional manner
- Very good German and English language skills
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business
