As part of the MITRE Europe and Africa team, you will work collaboratively with geographically distributed MITRE teammates to solve the most challenging national and international security problems across Europe and Africa by partnering with the US Department of Defense (DoD), NATO, and partner nations to apply advanced capabilities to real world operational needs while strategically positioning the DoD to address critical longer-term challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities

You will be part of a MITRE team working directly with US European Command to plan and integrate cutting edge technologies and advanced operational concepts to continually enhance the command €™s ability to plan and execute Joint All Domain Fires with allies.

This will include activities like (but not limited to):

• Conducting tabletop exercise (TTX) to define EUCOM processes and resource needs, comparing doctrinal fires/targeting process, current realities, and future all domain integration process changes against doctrine.
• Support systems integration of JFN Node and enable its integration with EUCOM J3, USAFE AOC, and NAVEUR MOC leveraging cross-CCMD coordination and lessons learned from INDOPACOM/OSD(R&E).
• Adapt JFN plans for EUCOM based on experimentation lessons learned.
• Define EUCOM Theater Integrated Joint Fires Cell (IJFC) skillsets, tools, and processes to enable joint all-domain operations based on TTX findings and JFN experimentation.
• Define how JFN integrates into the EUCOM architecture and future initiatives (e.g., EMTEC, Maven Smart Systems, M&S tools, Thunderforge).
• Align JFN with Components and NATO processes.

Attributes and core capabilities

Team Leadership. Define and guide impactful project objectives and daily work execution of support to USEUCOM and MITRE Project Leadership. Ensure FFRDC appropriate impactful tasks are defined, and meaningful data driven products are developed in a timely and relevant manner. Pro-actively collaborate with other projects supporting related sponsors to ensure maximum value and impact across MITRE’s sponsors.

Domain / Technical competence. Strong familiarity and skill in one or more of the following areas:

• Joint Fires All Domain Fires doctrine and the tactical, operational, and strategic levels
• NATO networks, coalition interoperability
• Operational requirements development and analysis
• Network systems integration

Interpersonal skills. Be a proactive team member and support team leadership partnering closely with both senior military leaders and action officers to identify operational and engineering challenges, potential solutions, and communicate project goals and impacts clearly and effectively.

Collaboration. Work within a team environment that leverages a robust network of MITRE and other professional connections to engage and collaborate with engineers and planners, subject matter experts, international program (foreign military sales) specialists, and defense acquisition professionals. Continue to leverage a pipeline of MITRE technical expertise from the Labs, capabilities from the MITRE Platforms, and transitioned R&D from the MIP into project delivery.

Senior Sponsor Experience. Comfortably and respectfully engage with both US and foreign nations’ senior military leaders and engineers as well as commercial executives and managers.

Flexibility. Be able to modify and alter course as the environment and sponsor priorities shift. Understand the power of reach-back and be an effective conduit to bring the talent forward to execute at the right time.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of experience with a BS in a technical discipline, such as Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Computer), Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields; or BA in International Relations, International Security, Management, or 8 years and Masters; or equivalent combination of related work experience and education.
• Willingness to relocate to Stuttgart, Germany
• Interest in team leadership opportunities
• Familiarity with Department of Defense military missions
• Strong system-of-systems engineering experience across weapon systems and mission sets
• Prior experience with US Department of Defense systems of systems integration
• Effective and influential oral communications skills
• Strong written communications skills
• Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
• This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in related field
• Five years’ experience in Command and Control processes, architectures, and systems.
• Experience as an enterprise architect or systems of systems integrator
• Current knowledge of C2 and/or intelligence concepts/programs
• Strong knowledge in operational air and missile defense concepts and tactics
• Understanding of best-practices for layered C2 and defense constructs across services
• Additional clearances: NATO SECRET
• Familiarity with MITRE project management processes, capabilities, and associated tools
• Demonstrated capability for strategic planning and ability to provide actionable plans to government sponsors

This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of Top Secret/SCI clearance.
