We are looking to fill the following position in our Risk Management Department as soon as possible:

Risk Management Analyst (m/f/d)

Full-time 38,5 hrs/week, permanent employment

Key responsibilities:

As a Risk Management Analyst, you will play a key role in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating business risks across Mitsui's operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a broad range of risk matters, including credit, market, country, and investment risks relating to the businesses of Mitsui EMEA (primarily Mitsui & Co. Deutschland GmbH) and affiliated companies.
  • Conducting comprehensive quantitative and qualitative risk assessments of counterparties, business partners, and investment opportunities.
  • Providing expert recommendations and guidance to business departments and senior management regarding credit lines, trading limits, and investment decisions.
  • Performing due diligence by visiting and interviewing counterparties, credit agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to gather information and evaluate risk exposures.
  • Monitoring overdue receivables and credit limit breaches, identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and reporting findings to management.
  • Monitoring long and short positions and analysing risk events, including limit excesses, loss limit breaches, and maximum risk volume exceedances.
  • Supporting the management and resolution of unexpected or emerging risk issues.
  • Developing and implementing debt recovery strategies across the EMEA region while liaising with debtors, insurers, legal counsel, insolvency practitioners, and courts.
  • Delivering seminars, workshops, and training initiatives to strengthen risk awareness and risk management competencies across business departments.

Your qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in B2B risk management, preferably within an international trading company, commercial or investment bank, credit insurer, or comparable environment.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, particularly in the assessment of consolidated financial statements.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting and finance, including corporate finance and project finance concepts.
  • Understanding international commercial practices, including payment methods, trade finance, and Incoterms.
  • Familiarity with insolvency proceedings, collateral management, and debt recovery processes.
  • Good understanding of international macroeconomic developments and their potential impact on business operations.

Your skills and competencies:

  • Business-fluent English, both written and spoken.
  • German and/or Japanese language skills would be an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex business issues and translate them into practical risk assessments.
  • Strong organizational skills with a structured, independent, and results-oriented approach to work.
  • High level of initiative, accountability, and ownership.
  • Proactive mindset with strong planning, execution, monitoring, and follow-up capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage effectively across different levels of the organization.
  • Strong team spirit, reliability, and professional integrity.
  • Openness to career mobility within the Mitsui Group and an interest in gaining experience across different businesses and international locations.
