About the role
Mondu is expanding its commercial footprint in Europe and beyond. We are looking for a lawyer with an innovative mindset to lead the legal guidance on topics related to key merchants and partners. You will be given responsibility and autonomy to innovate the legal problem space from day one. For your key commercial and contractual projects, you will be the go-to legal contact and source of truth. You will work side-by-side with your commercial and product colleagues and play a strategic role in the future success of Mondu.
Rather than being tied to routine tasks, you will focus on strategic guidance and training across contractual and regulatory go-to-market matters. The ideal candidate strives for automatisation and standardisation of processes. You will also be directly involved in negotiations with key strategic commercial partners when needed.
What you’ll do
- Key contact person for major commercial, contractual and partnership matters.
- Support in improving tools and actively participating in setting up automatization and standardisation of processes for the legal problem space and drive innovation in the legal problem space.
- Drafting and developing commercial templates, playbooks and negotiating key commercial contracts (with merchants, partners, payment service providers).
- Provide advice on commercial legal aspects of merchant cooperation, partnerships and third-party service providers and support the business stakeholders in negotiating contracts.
- Closely liaise with non-legal stakeholders and legal colleagues from different teams to drive, explore and solve relevant topics from a commercial legal perspective.
- Report to the CLO of Mondu and train your consulting and leadership skills.
What you need to succeed
- 3+ years of relevant experience gained at a leading international law firm or within a fast-paced in-house legal team.
- Fully qualified to practice law in Germany (second bar exam or equivalent European qualification).
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English (C1+).
- Relevant experience in drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts.
- Experience working closely with product, risk and commercial teams in dynamic, technology-driven settings.
- A hands-on mentality, able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, fast-growing environment.

- Previous experience in financial services, banking and/or AML.
