Skills and CompetenciesProven credit/risk assessment experience including strong financial analysis experience, likely to be gained from a financial institution, regulator or accounting firmUnderstanding of European banks and their regulatory environment and the key issues affecting these markets/the main financial institutions and key industry driversExcellent communication skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing with some public speaking experienceStrong quantitative aptitude and proven analytical skillsFluency in German and English is essential, additional language skills would be highly beneficialHighly organised and efficient, with the ability to multi-task and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlinesCommitment to ongoing professional development and learningGood understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can improve processes and drive efficiencyEducationMaster's in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent advanced qualificationCFA/CAIA professional qualification would be highly beneficialKey ResponsibilitiesLead the credit analysis of banks and other financial institutions across the EMEA region, ensuring accurate and timely rating recommendations in line with Moody’s methodologies.Monitor assigned credits on an ongoing basis, assessing financial performance, business developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that may impact credit qualityPrepare and present analytical conclusions for Rating Committees, contributing thoughtful insight and sound judgment to rating decisionsDevelop a strong understanding of the European banking sector, including key institutions, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks influencing credit profilesBuild and maintain effective relationships with issuers, investors, and other market participants through meetings, presentations, and responses to analytical enquiriesProduce high-quality research, sector commentary, and thought leadership that identifies emerging trends and provides valuable market insightsRepresent Moody’s externally at industry events, conferences, webinars, and other forums, enhancing the firm's reputation and market presenceCollaborate with colleagues across Moody’s Ratings and partner teams to deliver analytical excellence, share expertise, and drive consistent rating outcomesLeverage AI-enabled tools, data, and digital solutions to enhance analytical processes, improve efficiency, and support innovation across the teamSupport the development of junior analysts through coaching, knowledge sharing, and mentorship while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team cultureAbout the TeamOur banks rating team is responsible for delivering high-quality credit ratings and research, enhancing market transparency, supporting investor decision-making, and expanding our brand as a trusted source of credit insight.
