F1 Embedded Application Software Engineer in Genève

ppJoin the FIA and play a key role in developing and monitoring the advanced technologies powering Formula 1. /p pAs an Application Software Engineer within the FIA Technical Department, you will strengthen our in-house embedded software capabilities to implement, monitor, and enforce Formula 1 technical and sporting regulations. You will work on complex multi-system electronics projects requiring seamless integration across control units, sensors, communication networks, and data systems. /p pBased in Geneva, this new role requires working within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team and includes trackside travel to Formula 1 events (approximately 12 events per year). /p h3MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: /h3 h3Embedded application software development /h3 ul liDesign, implement, validate, and maintain robust in-house embedded software for key FIA Formula 1 platforms, notably the FIA Standard ECU and Accident Data Recorder, to monitor and enforce regulatory compliance. /li liLead end-to-end multi-system integration across control units, sensors, vehicle communication buses, telemetry networks, and FIA data-analysis suites. /li liTranslate complex sporting, technical, and operational requirements into high-integrity software architectures, detailed specifications, and rigorous verification plans. /li liDevelop specialized simulation, test, and data-analysis tools to accelerate software validation, support regulatory evolution, and guarantee operational readiness. /li liExecute functional and integration testing on bench and vehicle environments in close collaboration with F1 teams, power unit manufacturers, and electronics suppliers. /li liTroubleshoot, optimize, and maintain application software repositories, applying rigorous code reviews, version control, and clear technical documentation to ensure long-term reliability and maintainability. /li liBuild and scale in-house engineering capabilities, reinforcing the FIA’s operational independence and responsiveness to emerging technical demands. /li /ul h3Auditing of electronic systems /h3 ul liInspect competitors' embedded software, system behaviour, and telemetry data for compliance across chassis and powertrain regulations. /li liDevelop automated auditing tools and liaise with suppliers to streamline electronic inspection and homologation workflows. /li /ul h3Development strategy and regulatory support /h3 ul liSupport future regulation updates through proactive simulation, system modeling, and technical validation. /li liDefine specifications for future FIA electronic architectures, safeguard FIA intellectual property, and contribute technical input to F1 working groups. /li /ul h3Race and test support /h3 ul liProvide trackside support at F1 races and tests (~12 events/year) to configure, operate, and monitor FIA electronics and data-logging systems. /li liAnalyse real-time vehicle telemetry to verify regulatory compliance and resolve cross-system software anomalies in collaboration with teams and manufacturers. /li /ul h3PROFILE: /h3 ul liMaster’s degree in Electronics, Control Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. /li liMinimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience in embedded control systems or real-time application software development within a competitive motorsport environment (Formula 1, Formula E, WEC). /li liKnowledge of the FIA Formula 1 Standard ECU and its application software tool suite would be a significant advantage. /li liProven track record in real-time embedded software development, testing, and lifecycle management; proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape. /li liStrong understanding of Formula 1 or Formula E or WEC chassis and powertrain operation, including associated electronic, electrical, communication, control and data systems. /li liDemonstrated experience delivering complex multi-system electronics projects involving the integration and validation of interconnected embedded systems. /li liExcellent organisational and communication skills, autonomy under pressure, and adaptability to high-tempo trackside environments. /li liAbsolute discretion regarding confidential data; fluent written and spoken English. /li /ul pbDeadline to Apply: October 5th, 2026 /b /p pbThe FIA is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
