As a Junior Development Engineer, you will be responsible for full life cycle development of medical devices, which includes initiation, design, development, testing, execution, and product maintenance. You will be responsible for the production and processing of prototypes, patient specific instrumentation, and implants.

Your Mission

  • New Product Design - Assist with the design and produce new implants and instruments
  • Design Improvement - Recommend and modify existing designs to enhance the quality and functionality of products
  • Prototyping - Produce and process implants and instrumentation prototypes; using 3D printers and related equipment
  • Testing and Evaluation - Assist in generating, testing, and managing prototype and clinical models to evaluate new design concepts
  • Provide technical support across functions — including supply chain and vendor manufacturing design transfers, as well as Marketing and Product Management support for surgical technique, training and promotional activities
  • Project Reporting - Regularly report the progress and status of assigned project

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required, with a preference for Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering — or a University of Applied Sciences (FH) degree with relevant professional experience
  • Experienced in CAD and technical drawing generation (experience with SolidWorks is a plus)
  • Curious, hands‑on and pragmatic mindset with a genuine passion for product development and engineering
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of new product development process
  • Comfortable working in surgical lab environments with animal specimens
  • Team player with a collaborative, respectful, and flexible attitude
  • Self‑motivated and proactive — you take initiative, suggest and align on proposals, and follow through
  • Strong attention to detail and a solution‑oriented approach
  • Knowledge of different engineering processing technologies, including metal and plastics hardware
  • Ability to work in a cross‑functional environment alongside R&D, Marketing, Quality and Procurement teams based in multiple locations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; any additional language is a plus especially German
  • Occasional travel for courses and conferences, up to 10%
