Overview
In this role you will develop and implement advanced EMS strategies for BESS across European markets, enabling optimized dispatch and grid services. You will refine multi-objective optimization algorithms and validate them through simulations and real hardware testing, partnering with software, hardware and BESS control teams. You will translate evolving European energy requirements into scalable ESS solutions, shaping next-generation energy management for large-scale storage. Verantwortungsbereiche
- Develop and implement EMS strategies for BESS dispatch across front-of-meter and behind-the-meter applications
- Create optimization and forecasting algorithms for energy arbitrage, FCR, aFRR and other flexibility services
- Model and integrate batteries, power conversion and EMS into complete ESS solutions
- Develop multi-objective optimization approaches including linear, nonlinear and AI-based models
- Validate algorithms via simulation, HIL/CHIL testing and prototype development
- Collaborate with software, hardware and BESS control teams for successful system integration
- Provide technical insights into European energy markets and requirements
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Control Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Strong experience in energy systems modelling, optimisation, forecasting and control strategies
- Strong Python skills for algorithm development, modelling and data analysis
- Knowledge of C/C++
- Experience with power system modelling and simulation tools such as DIgSILENT or Modelica
- Proven experience with BESS architectures, components and operation including energy management algorithms
- Understanding of European electricity markets and grid operation (desirable)
- Experience with SCADA/EMS, embedded systems, CHIL/HIL testing or EMS development (advantageous)
- Experience leading technical projects or teams (desirable)
- Strong communication skills in international/multicultural environments
- Fluent English; additional European or Chinese languages advantageous
- Professional experience with Linux beneficial
