Within our global reinsurance operations, Specialty Reinsurance is the unit responsible for traditional reinsurance business across the Agriculture, Aviation, Contingency, and Marine lines of business.

With underwriting teams on multiple continents (Munich, New York, Singapore, Johannesburg, Sao Paulo, Tokyo) and a global underwriting mandate, Specialty Reinsurance serves clients on a worldwide basis.

Underwriting Solutions is a multidisciplinary team (Actuarial, Legal, Accumulation, Cyber, Reporting, Governance) responsible for establishing standards, strengthening underwriting capabilities, and developing solutions across all Specialty Reinsurance lines.

Then join our Underwriting Solutions team and take on the unique responsibilities of driving data analytics initiatives for the entire Specialty Reinsurance business. Additionally, you will also have opportunities to develop your underwriting knowledge by participating in renewals across multiple lines of business as a Pricing Actuary.

Your Job

  • Work closely with other actuaries to commonly ensure consistent underwriting quality as well as with underwriters to understand their needs for data analytics solutions
  • Collaborate with underwriters during renewals by pricing reinsurance treaties and direct business across the SpecialtyRe lines of business
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain analytics solutions and actuarial tools by combining multiple technologies
  • Engage in projects within the Specialty Reinsurance Actuarial Community to address business challenges using tailor-made, data-driven solutions
  • Drive the advancement of analytics practices by experimenting with new technologies and leveraging data from multiple sources (e.g., internal systems, open source, market reports)
  • Validate, interpret, and present data findings to both an expert and non-expert audience
  • Identify training needs on actuarial topics and conduct relevant training courses
    Your Profile
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field: e.g., computer science, actuarial science, applied mathematics, physics, operational research, engineering
  • High proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, Shiny), strong capabilities in visualisation (ggplot2, PowerBI), and advanced knowledge of programming concepts (Relational Databases, API requests, OOP)
  • Excellent analytical and abstract-thinking skills
  • Enthusiasm to broadly share knowledge and work effectively with colleagues at varying levels within the organization
  • High degree of curiosity, flexibility, and drive
  • Strong team-player mindset and intercultural competencies
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English
