In the Data and Analytics (DAA) division, the Data Asset Team is highly engaged in finding, evaluating, and making internal and external data available for Munich Re’s business purposes. This team is dedicated to building robust data assets aimed at enhancing Munich Re’s risk intelligence and continuously developing superior pricing models, products, and services for our clients. Furthermore, the team strives to drive innovative, data-driven business models. Our goal is to leverage structured and unstructured data to create value across all areas of the organization. By doing so, we aim to foster a vibrant data economy where all stakeholders can independently optimize processes, generate new insights, and drive business growth through data. We follow a guiding principle of democratizing data usage, enabling every member of the organization to harness the power of data. This involves developing and implementing advanced data engineering solutions that support our broader strategic
objectives.
Your Job
- Technical validation of data products and collaboration with an expert engineering team and a business consulting team
- Helping to design, evaluate, and implement projects aimed at generating and leveraging data
- Supporting the project managers and work
- Supporting the analysis and processing of complex data sets together with a team of experienced experts from Underwriting, Business Development, and Data Analytics
- Independently finding solutions to data-related problems
- Helping to analyze, evaluate, and program new data-generation technologies (e.g., web crawling)
- Currently focusing on Cyber, Building, Agricultural, and Company Data
Your Profile - Master’s studies (or final year of Bachelor’s studies) with a strong academic record in a quantitative field like Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline incl. business administration/economics with a quantitative focus
- Passion for Data Engineering and Data Management
- Interest in a wide range of technical or socially relevant topics that go beyond the (re)insurance sector (e.g., infrastructure, aviation, healthcare, finance, consumer market, etc.)
- Good MS Office-Skills (especially PowerPoint and Excel)
- Good Skills in Python and SQL are necessary
- Experience with Pyspark, Azure and Databricks are a plus
- First experience in project management or consulting is advantageous
- Creative, open-minded, and hands-on approach, with excellent communication skills when dealing with various stakeholders
- Fluent in English, basic understanding of German (Polish is a plus)
