This role will be part of the Operations Projects Tower for Group Technology, responsible for delivering complex strategic change initiatives across operational domains including Infrastructure, Networks, Cloud, End User Compute, Service Management, and M&A onboarding projects. The Tower oversees multiple project portfolios, each led by senior change and people leaders, and ensures end-to-end project delivery, financial oversight, and alignment with business strategy. Key responsibilities include managing project budgets, prioritization, planning, and partnering with senior business leaders to achieve successful outcomes

The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for overseeing the portfolio management of IT Infrastructure and Operations Projects including Data Centre, Cloud, Networks, Workplace, Support, Service Management, Integrations, and Facilities—that form the backbone of Munich Re’s global operations. The role will ensure the effective execution of all transformation initiatives within Operations Projects, from foundational IT infrastructure to end-user technology, while being accountable for delivering business value, managing project budgets, aligning roadmaps, and ensuring timely, quality outcome.

Your Job

  • Manage and co-ordinate the production of financial insights across Munich Re, ERGO and ERGO International with the use of Excel and PowerBI that drive to the Operations Projects Tower reporting and associated governance meetings by creating, collating, analysing, evaluating, and turning key data into useful information for Senior stakeholders
  • Act as the key financial interface with Reinsurance Controlling, financial controlling and the Infrastructure & Operations RUN/MTB partner
  • Manage the inputs, collation and outputs of the month end financial reconciliation processes
  • Provide financial trend analysis to determine key metric changes, gaps and financial movements
  • Working knowledge of SAP CO (Controlling module)
  • Maintain processes, standards, and guidelines around Operations Projects financial process to ensure the governance framework is being correctly applied by projects
  • Support the timely completion of portfolio reporting and meeting cadence, to enable effective decisions/actions to be taken by Senior Management
  • Maintain the Operations Projects headcount, oversight reports and process using excel and PowerBI
  • Onboarding new positions, backfill requirements and offboarding Munich based resources
  • Request POs in Coupa for German based contracts and manage invoice payments to suppliers
  • Provide coaching and guidance to project managers and act as a subject matter expert for PMO financial management best-practice, portfolio methods, processes, tools, templates, and standards
  • Support the timely completion of all PMO activities across the Operations Projects portfolios, using formal project management and governance techniques as appropriate
  • Support the OP Project Managers by communicating and co-ordinating the Quarterly and Year End accrual process for all regions

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science / Mathematics / Information Systems
  • Previous experience in PMO or Financial Controlling, ideally within diverse and cross-functional teams
  • Background in Business Analysis and Project Management, with a strong interest in contributing to inclusive and transparent portfolio governance
  • Collaborative and consultative working style, fostering a culture of shared accountability, openness, and mutual respect
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to work, with a strong sense of ownership and inclusion
  • Proven ability to analyze portfolio financial data and collaborate effectively with diverse project teams
  • Skilled in interpreting financial data to generate accessible and actionable management insights
  • Proficient in MS Office tools (including Power BI) and SAP CO, with a commitment to knowledge sharing and skills development
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and presentation skills, paired with the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines, cultures, and levels of seniority
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trust and collaborate across varied stakeholder groups
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; proficiency in German is an asset and supports inclusive engagement across teams
