The IT Business Solutions Reinsurance P&C Solutions department oversees global IT account management for our Non-Life Reinsurance Underwriting. This includes the maintenance and development of the related IT systems, particularly the Underwriting Platform. Munich Re’s Underwriting Platform tool suite is essential for the entire underwriting process for Non-Life business units worldwide, making it crucial to our core business. We are seeking a Senior Application Developer specializing in application development and data analytics to join our team, with a focus on the Exposure project (MAEX application), which handles the management and analysis of exposure data.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team of IT experts. You will serve as the design lead within a team of highly skilled .Net-Core Developers and Data Engineers working on one of Munich Re’s largest cloud-native applications. Your role will be diverse, involving solution design for application structure and information management, as well as assisting the team lead with capacity planning in our scaled agile environment. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the team of solution architects.
This position will be located in Munich.
Your Job
- Capacity Planning Support: Assist the team lead with short- and mid-term capacity planning, including estimating new backlog items, planning iterations and refinements, and program increment (PI) planning.
- Solution Design Implementation: Ensure consistent implementation of solution designs within the development team by utilizing technical standard solutions.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality assurance of refined and implemented technical solutions, ensuring they meet quality goals such as scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Architectural Evolution: Advance our application architecture and data processing capabilities for core business applications used globally and hosted on Microsoft Azure.
- Collaboration with Solution Architects: Work alongside solution architects to support the mid-term development of new cloud-based solutions.
- Business Unit Collaboration: Partner with business units, particularly Corporate Underwriting, to plan and develop new product features.
- Operational Stability and Security: Ensure the stable and secure operation of our cloud-native applications, providing third-level support for these systems.
- Cloud Service Troubleshooting: Conduct analysis and problem-solving to address issues with cloud services.
- Service Reliability Enhancement: Develop strategies to enhance service reliability and mitigate issues at the application level.
- Participation in Rollouts: Contribute to the rollout of new services and features.
Your Profile
- Educational Background: Possess a university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience in software design and data architecture.
- System Management: Proficient in managing compute-intensive, data-driven, and large-scale systems, with an emphasis on state-of-the-art security practices.
- Technological Proficiency: Skilled in using relevant technologies such as .Net/Java, Open Telemetry, PowerShell, as well as cloud services like Microsoft Azure and AWS, alongside tools for version control, code quality, and analysis.
- Azure Knowledge: Strong understanding of Azure services, including but not limited to Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Functions/App Services, Azure Batch, Azure SQL, SignalR, CosmosDB (Gremlin/SQL), Service Bus, and API Management.
- Additional Expertise: Familiarity with Data Vault modeling and the Delta Lake storage format is highly desirable.
