This role will be part of the Risk & Security Tower for Group Technology, which ensures effective risk and security management across Munich Re. The Tower enables Ambition 2025 and future growth by providing cyber protection for entities, cloud environments, and third-party ecosystems—adapting to evolving threats, technologies, and regulations. It defines, monitors, and delivers global IT security services in alignment with the risk appetite of Munich Re and the ERGO Group.

The Senior IT / IT Security Strategist is part of the Security Mission Control team within the Operating Office & Transformation Section of Group Technology –Risk & Security. The role is specifically responsible for the development and delivery of the Group Risk & Security strategy, owns Group Risk & Security innovation matters, manages the develop and maintenance of Group Risk & Security service roadmaps in partnership with security service owners and manages related interlocks with key stakeholders.

The Security Mission Control team is the enabler and accelerator for driving the Group Risk & Security mission by building sustainable run & change capabilities and connecting the dots between demand/risk, priorities/capacities/budgets, and strategic change management. The Group Risk & Security strategy and the consecutive roadmaps are the foundation of operations as well as of the project portfolio which delivers internal and external commitments as well as continuous security service maturity improvements.

• Lead and manage the creation and maintenance of the Group Risk & Security strategy and service roadmaps (e.g., considering delivery progress and new demand) in close coordination with the responsible security service owners.
• Own, in partnership with Group Risk & Security Business Management and other key stakeholders, the design and implementation of the target operating model, including continuous improvement processes related to risk and security transformation initiatives, organizational matters, processes, and tools.
• Orchestrate and drive strategic analyses, interfacing with security researchers (e.g., IANS, Forrester) and subject matter experts (e.g., capability owners, second line of defense, IT strategy, vendors), aiming to implement state-of-the-art, future-ready security services and technology operations..
• Own the process to align strategic input (e.g., from researchers) and commitments (e.g. towards regulators, audit, IT compliance, 1st line IT risk function and 2nd line IRM function, business) with security service roadmaps of service owners as well as with the project portfolio.
• Own and drive the innovation process in close alignment with Security Architecture and Service Owners while leveraging industry, researcher and other know how.
• Support qualification of demand & project portfolio prioritization.
• Support execution assurance (e.g., delivery reviews, recommendations).

Your profile

• Several years of experience in various IT areas, with a focus on IT / IT security strategy, innovation, program management, and change management in global, diverse, and highly regulated financial service organizations.
• Profound experience in cyber security, ideally with one or more of the major players in the Insurance / Financial Services industry and with international experience.
• Strong understanding of cyber security strategy, enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, emerging cyber threats, current trends, regulatory compliance and strategy frameworks.
• Experience of producing and presenting high quality cyber strategy documents, briefing papers and presentations to C-level.
• Highly self-motivated strategic thinker, networker and team player with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, resilient, and flexible.
• Confidence to engage with multiple levels of seniority with strong stakeholder influence skills.
