Mechatronics Development Engineer – On-site (Oberkochen, Germany)

Fixed-term contract, 24 months | Semiconductor | 40 hours per week, no shifts

Pay: Collective agreement grade EG15 (Metal and Electrical Industry, Baden-Württemberg)

About the role

You will develop the mechatronic systems behind projection and illumination optics in microlithography equipment, with a focus on dynamics and control engineering. It suits an engineer who enjoys modelling and simulating highly complex systems, and who wants to see their work carried through to tested prototypes. One position is available.

Very good English is essential. Good German is an advantage.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop, evaluate and document mechatronic system concepts for projection and illumination optics, with a focus on dynamics and control engineering
  • Model, simulate and analyse highly complex mechatronic systems
  • Independently develop and evaluate control algorithms for fast, extremely precise positioning of precision mechanical components
  • Derive specifications and budgets for components from your results
  • Oversee the realisation and testing of prototypes, and evaluate the test results
  • Work closely with internal and external customers and development partners in an interdisciplinary team

What we’re looking for

  • An excellent university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Technical Cybernetics or a comparable field
  • Several years of professional experience developing complex mechatronic systems
  • Strong system analysis skills (frequency and time domain) and dynamic analysis of mechanical systems (MBS, FEM, structural dynamics, modelling methods), including validation of dynamic models
  • Very good MATLAB skills
  • Very good written and spoken English
  • An independent, systematic working style with strong communication, organisation, decision-making, delegation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Knowledge of actuators and sensors, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, optical engineering and systems engineering
  • Good German

What you get

  • A diverse, multicultural international team
  • Support to develop your German, whether you are a beginner or advanced
  • A dedicated point of contact to guide you throughout your contract
  • Project work across a range of areas that builds your expertise and skills
  • Regular team events
  • Pay set by a collective agreement grade (EG15), reflecting your qualifications, experience and performance

This role suits an experienced mechatronics or control engineer who is strong in dynamics and modelling, communicates well across disciplines, and wants to work on precision systems at the leading edge of semiconductor technology.
