As a Mechanical Supervisor - Data Centre at Navartis in Germany, you will take full ownership of mechanical installation supervision, subcontractor coordination, on-site quality assurance, and progress tracking across a major data centre development. Your day-to-day responsibilities encompass supervising HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection systems, managing trade labor forces, conducting safety audits, and resolving on-site engineering clashes. You will collaborate proactively with project engineering squads to review mechanical drawings, inspect material deliveries, and maintain comprehensive site documentation. Working in a fast-paced mission-critical construction environment, you will drive operational excellence, safety compliance, and flawless mechanical handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage all on-site mechanical construction activities, MEP installations, and building services for major data centre projects.
- Oversee mechanical trades, external subcontractors, and site labor forces to ensure optimal productivity and adherence to project schedules.
- Coordinate daily site operations, manage material staging, and resolve technical installation clashes proactively.
- Conduct rigorous quality inspections, pressure testing, and system commissioning checks across HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
- Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and conduct regular tool-box talks and safety audits.
- Collaborate proactively with lead MEP engineers, project managers, and client stakeholders in Germany.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and isometric diagrams to ensure precise on-site execution.
- Manage subcontractor performance, verify progress claims, and oversee day-to-day site resource allocation.
- Maintain comprehensive site logs, daily progress reports, inspection checklists, and material inventory records.
- Ensure strict adherence to mission-critical engineering standards, German construction regulations, and quality baselines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional working experience in mechanical construction and building services.
- Minimum 2+ years of dedicated supervisory experience managing site teams, mechanical trades, and subcontractors.
- Strong technical background in mechanical building services, HVAC, piping systems, and thermal utilities.
- Direct, proven experience working within data centre or mission-critical construction environments.
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and on-site problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations in European construction markets.
