Engineering Manager, AI

We’re on the lookout for an Engineering Manager to join our engineering team at our office in Berlin. Join us in building the largest AI enabled fintech for healthcare!

You will lead one of our AI Product Engineering teams, focused on building AI-driven products that support and automate the day-to-day work of medical practice staff. Our goal is to save valuable time for doctors, medical assistants, and practice managers by creating intelligent, practical solutions that meaningfully improve healthcare operations.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for shaping the team through hiring, roadmap and strategy, and culture as the team builds and launches cutting edge AI products that deliver real-world impact.

Joining us, you will

• Lead, inspire and grow a high-performing team of 3–6 software and AI engineers.

• Collaborate closely with a product manager to iteratively build, launch, and improve new products.

• Own hiring for your team, building a team of high performing engineers.

• Keep your team at the cutting edge of LLM and AI based engineering, testing new ideas and tech as it’s released.

• Own the quality, reliability, and security of your team’s products. Delivering high availability production systems.

• Stay hands on, developing with your team.

• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Nelly’s engineering leadership team.

What you\’ll bring

• 1+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and 8+ years of overall experience in the industry.

• A strong technical background with hands-on experience in building AI products.

• Experience working in the TypeScript or Python ecosystems and a drive to proactively learn both.

• Experience with cloud native development.

• Experience designing, building, and owning customer facing production back-end systems.

• A deep understanding of software engineering processes and team management.

• Empathy and excellent communication skills.

• Proficiency in English, German knowledge is a plus.
