  • A leading data centre delivery provider is seeking an experienced
  • EHS Lead for a major Data Centre project based in

Munich, Germany .

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, managing, and continuously improving all aspects of the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programme on site.

This role ensures full compliance with internal policies, statutory requirements, local legislation, and client expectations while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture across all project teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full adherence to the company’s Safety Management System and all relevant EHS statutory provisions and legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with the project’s Environmental, Health & Safety Plans and the overall project execution plan.
  • Coordinate the development and review of task-specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Safe Plans of Action, and Permits to Work.
  • Promote and maintain good safety practices across all site activities.
  • Conduct ongoing COSHH/chemical safety assessments and ensure the safe control of hazardous substances in line with applicable German and EU regulations.
  • Document and record all safety interventions.
  • Perform regular site audits and inspections, record findings, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Maintain records of all statutory inspections for tools, plant, and project activities.
  • Drive a positive safety culture through proactive engagement at all levels.
  • Ensure subcontractor adherence to all EHS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHS inductions and training for project personnel.
  • Ensure all PPE is available, compliant, and well maintained.
  • Prepare and deliver Toolbox Talks and safety communications.
  • Lead or support incident and accident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up.
  • Oversee welfare and hygiene facilities in accordance with site requirements.
  • Maintain the Project Safety File with up-to-date EHS documentation.
  • Attend daily briefings and project coordination meetings.
  • Support environmental initiatives including waste reduction, recycling programmes, and sustainability objectives.
  • Liaise with client representatives, design teams, and regulatory authorities on all EHS-related matters.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline.

Minimum 8+ years' experience managing EHS on large-scale construction projects, ideally within data centre or industrial environments.

  • Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, best practices, and management systems ( German/EU experience is highly advantageous ).
  • Proven ability to effectively manage environmental, health, and safety performance on complex projects.

Fluent German and English language skills are essential, with the ability to communicate effectively with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory authorities.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and EHS reporting systems.
  • Flexible approach to work patterns and project demands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
