Job Title:
Lab Engineer – PLC Automation Salary:
€100,000 + Bonus If you're the kind of engineer who enjoys solving complex automation challenges and wants to see your work shaping the future of advanced manufacturing, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact. You'll join a highly respected engineering environment where innovation is driven by technical excellence, collaboration and precision. Working on cutting-edge research and development projects, you'll design intelligent automation systems that support next-generation technologies in one of the world's most demanding industries. Why this role
This is an opportunity to join a global technology leader recognised for developing highly engineered, low-carbon industrial solutions that enable some of the world's most advanced manufacturing processes. Operating at the forefront of innovation, the business invests heavily in research, engineering excellence and state-of-the‑art laboratory facilities, giving its engineers the freedom to solve complex technical problems while working alongside some of the industry's brightest minds. As a Lab Engineer within the R&D function, you'll play a pivotal role in developing sophisticated automated testing environments that accelerate product innovation and ensure the highest levels of quality, reliability and performance. What you'll do
Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you'll design, develop and continuously improve PLC-based automated test systems used for product verification and validation. You'll programme and develop control systems using TwinCAT (Beckhoff) and Structured Text (ST), selecting and integrating PLCs, I/O hardware, sensors, actuators and communication interfaces to create robust, high-performance solutions. You'll contribute to the long-term automation roadmap, perform verification and validation testing against internal, customer and industry standards, and produce clear technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle. As products move into deployment, you'll also provide technical expertise during commissioning activities and deliver second-line engineering support where required. About you
You'll bring at least five years' experience developing PLC software using TwinCAT (Beckhoff) and Structured Text within a complex engineering or manufacturing environment. You will have a recognised qualification as an Automation Technician or equivalent, supported by further education in Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Robotics or Electrical Engineering. You understand electrical hardware design, control systems architecture and automated testing methodologies, and you're comfortable working across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines. You're analytical, methodical and hands-on, with the ability to solve challenging engineering problems efficiently. Fluent English is essential, while German language skills would be advantageous. Rewards & growth
Alongside a competitive €100,000 salary plus bonus, you'll benefit from working in an exceptionally modern engineering environment equipped with advanced laboratory and testing facilities. This is a business that values technical expertise, encourages continuous development and offers the opportunity to contribute to technologies that are helping drive more efficient, sustainable and intelligent industrial manufacturing worldwide.
