- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex pharma and companion diagnostic projects, taking ownership of scope, timelines, risks, resources and key milestones.
- Take over existing or challenging projects, identifying delivery issues and establishing clear plans to bring programmes back on track.
- Translate pathology, molecular biology and drug-development requirements into clear specifications for engineering, data science and medical teams.
- Identify potential data, regulatory, resource and delivery risks early and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
- Make informed decisions around project scope, timelines and resourcing, including in situations where information may be incomplete.
- Act as a senior point of contact for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and diagnostic partners, including stakeholders up to VP level.
- Manage challenging client conversations around project delays, changing requirements, technical limitations and scope.
- Own commercial discussions across existing accounts, including scope changes, pricing, renewals and project expansions.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client partnerships and work alongside commercial teams to support account growth.
- Lead and develop a small team of Junior Project Managers, providing coaching, escalation support and clear delivery standards.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, medical/scientific and commercial teams.
- Develop and implement project-management processes, SOPs, templates and playbooks to support consistent delivery across multiple client programmes.
- Introduce automation and AI-enabled tooling where appropriate to improve project-management efficiency.
- Monitor project and portfolio performance across areas including on-time delivery, client satisfaction and process efficiency.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience owning complex, client-facing projects within biotech, pharmaceutical, diagnostics or MedTech environments.
- Experience delivering projects involving pharmaceutical partnerships, biomarkers, companion diagnostics, precision medicine or closely related scientific programmes.
- Track record of taking ownership of complex, high-risk or challenging projects and successfully driving them towards delivery.
- Scientific degree in biology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, medicine or a related discipline. PhD advantageous but not essential.
- Strong scientific understanding with the ability to translate pathology and molecular biology requirements for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working cross-functionally with scientific and technical teams, ideally including engineering, software, data science or bioinformatics.
- Demonstrable commercial experience within client accounts, including areas such as scope negotiation, pricing, renewals, expansions or change requests.
- Experience managing senior external stakeholders and handling difficult client conversations.
- Direct people-management experience, ideally leading or developing a small project-management team.
- Experience improving project-management processes, systems or tooling rather than solely operating within established frameworks.
- Strong judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions and maintain delivery in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Fluent professional English; German language skills are advantageous.
